Many feel that the creation of the WPG started as purposely bred crosses of Otterhounds, various Setter and Spaniel Breed and of course a pointer. The Poodle was thought to be developed 300 years earlier as a hunting and water dog. It is thought that several European water dogs, French Barbet and Hungarian Pulli breeds were used to develop. How natural is it to blend into the breed in the 21st century the webbed feet WPG infused with Poodle. Both water lovers, hunters, and the most easiest to train. Yes they are known for being easily trainable. Actually one of our pups was expelled from puppy class after 2 lessons and sent to adult class. She was just too smart!!! Of course there are some that say there is no room for modernized breeds, although almost all breeds today were developed. We feel these are the perfect dog for the modern family and are here to stay. They love everyone, will let you know when a stranger is around though, easy to train, can be pointer, hunters, or just plain family members! Many owners feel like they have mini Irish Wolfhounds. Just a wonderful breed
